Monica Boknecht, LCMFT is the owner of Sunny Side Up Therapy and passionate about helping people. She believes the daily stress of life can easily become overwhelming, and at times it seems impossible to change when what you've always done no longer works. She also understands the stories of our past can sometimes impact our present. Monica feels that people need help slowing down from the hectic pace of life to see new ways of being that can bring happiness and contentment, instead of anger and resentment. Mindfulness is an important part of her therapeutic process, and while working with her clients she pays close attention to the 4 body systems; physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual. By being mindful of these areas, she helps clients create balance in an unbalanced life.
Monica specializes in treating individuals, couples, and families. Throughout her professional experience she has been blessed to help people dealing with a myriad of problems from all walks of life. She finds working with couples an enriching part of her practice, whether they're straight or same sex.

She is a 2009 graduate of the MSFT program at Friends University, and the winner of the Sheldon Louthan Outstanding Graduate Student award for her cohort. In addition to her Master of Science in Marriage and Family Therapy, she also earned her Bachelor of Science in Human Services/Psychology from Friends University in 2007. She is currently a supervisor candidate within the MSFT program and oversees students in the marriage and family masters program and is training for EMDR therapy.
